Wood and composite decking reviews

When building a deck you have two options either to go for composite materials or to pick wood, we will be sharing both types here with their pros and cons, so we help you with wood and composite decking reviews.

The most important difference the falls between both is the treatment required as wood needs more treatment more than composite, but on the other hand, it looks nicer, so far the companies who make composite are making the best to produce composite materials that looks like actual wood, well as an opinion I don’t think they have reached that yet matching the composite look to be as real as wood is not achieved yet.

Just to mention that wood decking needs to be maintained a lot, you want to consider the time that you will spend doing that, if you got that time then it is ok to go for wood and have it in your decking ideas.

But if you do not have much time it’s better for you to go with the composite decking as it will be a great choice.

Even if wood decking needs a lot of maintenance, there is a kind of wood decking that needs less maintenance which is the cedar, you can use it and never have it maintained and simply nothing will happen to it, it will remain on its original shape because it has a resistance to nature and it does not twist and wrap.

The only problem with this decking is that it’s going to turn to a grey colour after time; you can still maintain it once in a while to longer the time it needs to turn grey, in fact, all the wooden decking will go grey after some time, but if you put some hard work there every once in a while you could just seal it and it will preserve colour.

Now on the other side, the composite decking is found to be in a need for a less maintaining, just when you install it, it is going to remain the same over the harsh weather, the colour might fade a little over a long time period but it is usual, and you will not notice that because it is over a long time and that would be a nice thing to consider in your decking ideas.

Now for the cons of the composite decking, it is expensive compared to wood, so if you have a limited budget this might be a slight problem for you, but it will balance in a good way if you consider not having to buy sealer over the long time.

Conclusion is that both of the deckings are good if it is composite or wood, you just have to decide which one you will go for either the wooden which will turn grey over time and requires a lot of maintenance, or the composite that needs no maintenance but expensive compared o wood and might be faulty over time.

We hope that we gave you some good factors about Wood and composite decking reviews, now you can decide and pick which one you can go with. Ready to get started designing a patio? Give us a call today at 082 540 8464 or request a free estimate online.
